the money you make is not based on your career choice.. all branches of the military get paid the same... the pay is based on your rank.....the only difference is that some incentives are added depending on what and where you do it.. for instance.... an E1 in the military makes an avg $13,809.60 yearly... but heres the kicker.. you get monthly allowances or basically bonuses depending on your situation... if your married you get an extra 1k or so a month. if you are in the navy and go out on the ship you will also make family separation pay which is around another 150 or so.. then if you work on the flight deck you get flight deck pay, hazardous duty pay, sea duty pay,so on and so on. aside from this you also get into tax free zones where your entire check for those 6months, year, or whatever are tax free. the only thing they pull taxes on is your inital pay. all your bonuses are tax free..so even though you might have brought in 30k theyll only pull taxes from 13k or so which puts you in a lower tax bracket....

there is a lot that goes into the pay situation.. but like i said all branches start out at the same pay depending on the rank... some branches just tend to move up in rank faster than others.. and some jobs tend to give you more incentives....

side note: im biased, but go Navy... nothing like hitting 6 different countries and partying your ass off in six months, plus you sleep on an actual mattress(very small, but mattress none the less. lol) and eat real food...
